...to success. We are experiencing decent early morning caddis hatches but the real action starts late. Think summer fishing. The sulphurs are heavy, but starting about 6pm in earnest. From 7 till dark the hatch and spinner fall is simply wonderful and pools and runs that seemed barren in the afternoon are alive with rising trout. Stop in to see the best patterns for these hatches.

The past week has been good for some, not as good for others.....what can I say, it
's fishing.
Right now the stream is running at 86
cfs at the
parkton gage and we're seeing morning
caddis, evening sulphurs, and Green Sallies sporadically throughout the day. The little
stoneflies are quite lime in color and seem to be more spread then in recent years (actually more then I've seen in the last 40 years) but still heaviest north of York Rd in the I-83 area, yeah I just pimped a spot but I didn't do it for 200 bucks in a cheap magazine so there!
LOL There really hasn't been any secrets on the river in 20 years so forgive me.
Caddis size 14 in tan, sallies in 14 and 16, and sulphurs in 14 and 16 are the ticket. We have the flies, most designed for the Gunpowder and tied locally, be sure to have nymphs,
emergers, dries, spinners and I always
recommend soft hackles....the fish will tell you which to use :)
Both are due and both are here......the evening fishing has been really good. We have a great selection of local patterns so stock up and hit the stream!!
A size #14 Sulphur has been knocking them dead this week...mostly from 6pm on but expect to see the hatch get earlier and even heavier in the next few days.
The best fishing of the year has begun.
Tight Lines,
Mike
