Stream Conditions-July 19th, 2010

Hot weather and better flows. The flows were bumped up which has made for better conditions. As of today, Parkton is flowing at 75cfs and Glencoe is 133cfs.

With the heat building during the middle of the day, the fishing is best in the mornings and evenings. Tricos are falling during the mornings when the treetops warm up. Times vary depending on different parts of the stream. Terrestrials have been the go-to flies during the heat. Ants, beetles and crickets thrown off of the river banks have brought quick and hard hits. Use in areas where there is overhanging vegitation. Fish key on terrestrials this time of year.

As for other flies, nymphs fished in the deeper runs and under the bubble lines are good bets. Deeper water and shaded pools are what to look for. With thunder storms predicted for the rest of the week, cloudburst will cloud up the lower river, but the top sections will be clear. After the storms pass is a great time to use terrestrials also!!
